Banana Pecan Smoothie Recipe
Ok- so I am somewhat of a smoothie connoisseur in the sense that I love looking at the recipes, I love trying different recipes, I love buying the ingredients and seeing them form a yummy treat and I love experimenting with ingredients from scratch. And that’s what I did this rainy morning- experimented.
Now, keep in mind that like any recipe, I encourage you to try it your own way add or take away ingredients according to what you like! But here’s what I did this morning:
The List of Ingredients:
1/2 cup Frozen bananas
1 tsp Pecan chips
1tsp – tbspHoney
dash Cinnamon
1 tbsp Flaxseed
1/4 cup Vanilla protein powder
1/2 cup Milk
Ice for texture
As you can see, this is very simple with minimal ingredients. Now – the measurements are guesstimated because we are living in a tiny apartment and I haven’t the space to get all of my measuring cups out. Also- these measurements are based on 1 serving, not a blender full.
I threw all of this in my Vitamix blender and let it do its thing! The result: a thick, sweet banana smoothie!
What I liked: the consistency was good, the bananas were perfect, and my husband LOVED it!
What I didn’t like: not enough ice! I like an icee type smoothie. Also- too sweet! I added probably about 2 tbsp of honey, and since the bananas were sweet already that was a no-no.
What I’d change: Add more ice, lessen on the sugar, more pecans, and perhaps try a thinner juice, such as coconut milk or water.
As I said before, my husband loved it and told me he’d drink that smoothie every morning for breakfast if I made it. Trust me when I say he’s very honest about my cooking, and thankfully I’ve taken after my southern mother and grandmother in that department!
If you have any smoothie recipes or posts you’d like to share, I’d love to see them and try them!
